Ice Bubbles at Abraham Lake
My brother and I have been wanting to get out to photograph the methane bubbles at Abraham Lake for a few years now. This year we’d heard that the bubbles hadn’t been that great and there was intermittent snow cover on many areas of the lake, so we thought it might not happen this year either. Then earlier this month, we started seeing posts on social media that there were some promising areas.
So last Sunday we got up early, packed up a lunch and our skates, and headed out to the lake with Jax and another friend to catch the sunrise. We found the bubbles! They are pretty amazing and well worth a trip out to see. I definitely want to go out again next winter to spend more time photographing as it was a bit hard this year with keeping an eye on a puppy and a five-year-old at the same time.
